Seek And Expect Miracles!
Hi Everyone! I cant believe it has been another week. I am still here in oregon. I dont know what else to say. So lets get into the highlights!
I love being bashed. We had this guy reffer himself to us and we message and call him and everything goes well! He said he would be in thailand for a few days and we could reach out to him when he gets back. We message him and ask if we could meet up sometime and he starts going off about how we cannot prove there is or isnt a God. He decided to play the middle man which doesnt make sense. I feel like if I was in the middle I would decide to believe because it seems like a better chance than not. If I believe I could inherit all that the father hath and If I dont I just die. So even if it was a 50/50 chance I would choose the one that I would win in the end.
The other day we get a call from our friend Sheila. She is one of the coolest members ever. She wanted to let us know of a cool experience she was a part of. She started off by talking about how her brother had some sort of court meeting thing in Idaho. It did not go the way that they planned it. And in the middle of the case they had a 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit the area. Sheila paused for a second, and then started talking about how she has been studying for her talk she is giving on sunday. She remembered one of the scriptures she wrote down for her talk, 1 John 4:9 says, "9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him." This was a reminder to her that God has the final say. How he can command a mountain to move, literally in this case, and it will happen. This section of scripture has become one of my more favorites at least this week. Sheila is such a sweet lady.
Alright, I have 2 more miracles to tell you about. We go pick up food from Sheila and we walk out to realise it is absolutely pouring rain. Like dumping. So we gird up our loins and started walking as fast as we could home. About halfway, one of the 8th ward members pulled to the side and asked if we needed a ride home. We gratefully accepted and we didnt have to walk the last mile of that trip in the pouring rain! Miracles do happen my friends!
Last one! Some of you know this already but here in Medford it started snowing. Everything was white and it was actually so pretty. But it makes everything so hard for missionary work. Nobody wanted to be out and it kind of just made that day very depressing for me at least. Nothing was going our way. Our most progressing friend dropped us and it was just rough. But later that day, we were going to go visit some of the people around our house. One of which was a refferall from 2 weeks ago that seemed very golden! We go knock on the door and nothing happens. Even more depressed we both start walking away from the door and all of a sudden a car pulls into the driveway. This guy ended up being the husband of the lady we were trying to visit. He started talking to us about how grateful he is for us and for our dedication. He said the missionaries have changed his life in the past and that he would be totally down to meet with us again! This was absolutely the pick me up I needed. It was a reminder of what us missionaries do. None of the bashing, none of the front lines crap. We are here to love people. I just needed that reminder that day. It made that day so much better for me.
Anyways, thank you for listening to my TED talk. Seek and expect miracles. They are there. Miracles did not cease after Jesus ascended to heaven.
Moroni 7: 27 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased because Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men? 28 For he hath answered the ends of the law, and he claimeth all those who have faith in him; and they who have faith in him will cleave unto every good thing; wherefore he advocateth the cause of the children of men; and he dwelleth eternally in the heavens. 29 And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.
I want to invite you all to ask God. I promise God will perform miracles in your life. All you have to do is act in faith and yes, that means living the commandments of God. I have seen it here. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
