Introducing Bishops Son To Anti
Hello everyone! No I did not forget to write my email this week. It was really weird last night and this morning and so I decided it was fine to write it tonight. I hope everyone is doing well! This week was full of ups and downs so lets get right into it.
Nostalgia
On Tuesday I had the opportunity to go on an exchange with my old companion Elder Holmes. He was one of my favorites so I was very excited to see him and work with him for the day! We decided to make some chicken wings for nostalgic purposes. When we were together over a year ago the ward was not the best at feeding us. So we would make these chicken wings that had a delicious sauce that we had. It was a combination of Parmeson Garlic Buffalo Wild Wings and chic-fil-a sauce! Dont knock it till you try it. Though you dont need to look at the nutrition label when you are eating them. Trust me when I say that. But it was delicous. We had lots of good talks and went and said hi to a couple of his people he used to teach while he was in this area!
We also went to young mens in the evening, they were doing like a dare or dare kind of thing. Where they had a bunch of punishments in a bag and you had to draw out a punishment and do it. The deacons almost shaved my head. Elder Holmes got smacked with a handful of shaving cream and he said he couldnt see straight afterwards. Look at the video for further info.
Interviews and the Resto Devo
Thursday was an interesting day. We had interviews with our mission president and he told me I looked less depressed than last time so I guess that is a good deal. We talked a lot about how I wish the work was moving quicker. He said that is a good thing. He said if I was comfortable that I needed to change something up. Which leads to my next thing! The last month or so we have been inviting our members here to invite friends to what we call the Restoration Devotional. Our mission president and his assistants pretty much teach the very first lesson in a very powerful way. It was actually so cool. With us inviting the whole ward to invite people we were expecting at least one nonmember friend to show up. But we had 6 members and no nonmembers at this devotional. It was very lack luster and it kind of just made me realise how the ward doesnt take us seriously like at all. Either that or they invited people and there literally was not anyone that said yes. Idk. Now we are trying to figure out what the next step is.
Priesthood Blessings
Priesthood Blessings scare me. I never feel like I am able to speak for God in these dire circumstances. I had to give a blessing in my very first area right before a man in the ward went in for a surgery that was a very risky surgery. This scared me because I knew that the whole family wants him to live and I didnt know if that was Gods will. Luckily he lived but it scared me pretty bad. The other day I was asked if I could give a blessing to a guy on hospice. Just telling him he needed to let go. I did not know if I was able to do that. Luckily God was on my side and I was told it was a very powerful blessing.
Introducing bishops son to Anti
Alright last story because this john is getting pretty long. So Saturday was scheduled out to be one of our most productive days of the week. We were supposed to have 3 nonmember lessons! One was with our friend Jack. We invited bishops son Craig who we go workout with every morning to go with us. We didnt realise that we were going to show up to the park and get lowkey bashed by our friend. This happens a lot but i thought it was funny that Craigs very first lesson with the missionaries was a bash. I love oregon. Dont worry I destroyed him.
The other 2 lessons fell through. So we were 1/3 for the day with the one being a bash. Welcome to my life.
Anyways, I hope you are all doing good! I have been doing ok. Struggling a little bit and could use prayers but Im not going to quit. But at the moment im just going to just say I am really looking forward to going home. I have only a little bit left. Love you all! Also, if yall want my pday is wednesday this week so you can message me then!
