New Beginnings!

Hello Hello! Yall know the drill! Lets get right into it!

There has been a ton going on this week! We had exchanges right before transfer day with our district leader! He went up to Merlin with me and we had a ton of success! One of our ward members is working with this lady named Shauna and her and some of her family came to church! Shauna has came a bunch of times and her granddaughters get really mad at her when they cannot go to primary. It is so funny!

Anyways, we had a lesson with this family and i think everyone seemed interested in talking with us and seeing what it is about. We set up a follow up time for friday. This made me so happy because I have been praying to find a family that is interested. Everyone we find out here in oregon are all single people. But you hear stories about people finding a full family and that is just what I wanted! This was a miracle in my eyes! God answers prayers. One of the best days on the mission.

Then everything went downhill...

We knew that Elder Kartchner was headed to mexico at the end of the transfer. So i figured it made the most sense to allow me to stay one more transfer and to train someone in the area then leave in febuary. But transfer news came and I learned both of us were out of there! Which really suprised me. But it wasnt a whitewash. They were closing Merlin to missionaries for 6 weeks! Now whitewashing was what I thought was the worst case scenario. But closing the area!!?? That was on a whole new level of sad. So I got to send over all 12-15 people I was teaching to our zone leaders who are like kinda covering merlin. Kinda. I really do not want my hard work to go to absolute crap. But nothing is going in my favor.

Now I am back in Medford. Went from my favorite area in the mission and the place where I felt the most success to an area where we arent teaching anybody. went from Hero to Zero. I am trying really hard to find where Gods hand is in all this. I feel like I hit a wall. But ill try to stay optomistic! My companion is a very funny guy! Very Very quiet but funny nontheless. I am in the rich part of Medford. Yesterday we went to a members house and on the way home he was telling about how hard it was to find the balance between spoiling his kids and not because they have so much money. It reminds me of my old mission president. I heard somewhere that he told one of the missionaries that this is the first time that president weekes had to use a budget. He cannot just go buy whatever he wants. I wish I had that problem! But we have lots and lots of doctors in the area and so we will get fed a lot. I am very excited for that!

One last quick story, almost exactly 1 year ago I was here in the medford 3rd ward. This area was absolutely nuts. Learned a lot! But anyways, one of the less actives I was working with a ton last year is an active member of the ward here now! So we went and suprised her and she was so happy to see me! if you look in the background there is a felt christmas tree she pinned up on the wall behind her other tree. This is one that I gave her last year. She was in the hospital with lots of different problems. Christmas got brought up when we went and visited her and she mentioned she wished she had a christmas tree. So I got it and gave it to her! She is now so much happier than the last time I saw her! So much more positive about life as a whole! She feeds the missionaries pretty regularly just so she can give back! It was so cool to see her! Little things make a big difference in their lives.

But that was this week! It was very emotional saying goodbye to the best members in the OEM. Maybe Ill be called back there to finish my mission. You never know.

Anyways! Cheers to 2024! It is weird that i can say I will be home this year! I think I have around 6 months left. Maybe just over 6 months. But time flies when your having fun! Im going to just hope this area is awesome! Lots of working with members! Love yall! Ill talk to ya next week!
