Instrument In The Lords Hands
Welcome back to my email list! You guys know the drill at this point. I am still alive and doing well! We actually didnt have very many funny stories this week but Ill tell you a little bit about some of the people we have been working with the last little bit!
JD and John Carlson
Middle of the week we went and gave these 2 a blessing. They have been less active for the last little bit and have since been working on coming back. More JD than john. But we go over to their house and it is like a super off the grid house. Everything is run off of the land around it. it was kind of cool to go to. Well John used to be a Melchezidek priesthood holder and he asked if he could be part of the blessing. So that kind of was the coolest part of the experience because he was trying to do better and to stay worthy of the wonderful power. And JD came to church with us this week in his new suit he was excited to show us!
Chris Merl
So I might have mentioned Chris, maybe once, but she is this super nice older lady that we went and did service for a handful of times. When we asked if we could do bible studies with her she was very very excited! So the first one we talked about Job and then the second one we talked about Isaiah 29 and how the book of Mormon was prophisied during that time.
Side note: Did you know that in verse 17 when it talks about how Lebanon was going to be turned into a fruitful field after the "book" came to be, i learned that ancient day Lebanon is modern day israel and so I asked myself when Israel started having people move over to it and it was around 1890. Which is such a cool thing because the book of mormon was translated soon before that. Just another super cool prophesy i was able to figure out.
Anyway, we share Isaiah 29 and introduce the book of mormon and she seemed down to read it. Except she couldnt read the small print on the one we had so we had to go back to the church and snag one from the library.
This leads to another cool part of her story, when we wanted to go over there we gave her a phone call to confirm and she told us we were an answer to her prayers. She said that while she was working on something at home she got this massive splinter that she just couldnt get out. So we go over do a little surgery work and we were able to get this splinter out. The lord works in mysterious ways! She even told us as we were about to leave that she wanted us to stay and that she likes the feeling when we are over there. This gave me so much joy!
Shirley Dastrup
So we got to go visit Shirley after such a long time. She is usually very agrivating to teach her but this week we went over there and just walked around the trails she had made all over her backyard. She needs more friends than anything and we had an awesome conversation with her!
Last one! The Billings family!
Last week we accidentally sent out like 200 texts to people saying we had a potluck but it was the wrong day. Luckily nobody showed up but one. Her name is Stephanie Billings. She dressed up as Barbie for halloween and she was just so excited to see us! She said that she was a longtime member from Cali and that she wanted us to come over for dinner sometime. So we set this up and Stephanie invites her children, Zoe and Timothy. They are both around my age. And Zoe invited a bunch of friends as well! Now we are not sure about this but we believe that Stephanie and maybe the husband Tim were the only members there. But we were able to have an awesome dinner and joked around and answered lots of questions from the kids! We hope that we made a good enough impression that they willl want to go to the YSA activities in the future! We are very excited to get to know them and hopefully baptise/reactivate the family as a whole!
Anyways, that was this week! We had a lot of services but I didnt want to bore you guys about us splitting wood in the rain for 5 hours. So this is way better! I hope you all have an amazing week and Ill look forward to hearing from you soon!
