Opposition In All Things

Well Hello people of the email list. It is that time of week again! So lets get started with the highlights!


The good and the Bad
Well this week honestly was not that crazy. We had a ton of different contacting things we did. We had lessons fall through and it was just very very busy. I did learn one very important thing though. There is opposition in all things. One of my young mens leaders had a really cool lesson while I was in Deacons Quorum and it showed this principle very well. He asked us one very simple question, "What are the 2 biggest uses of the internet?" This stumped us for a minute and we just did not know. So he told us the answer, Pornography and Family history. I mean I am not sure how accurate this is but it did paint a giant picture in my head. One of those things bring families closer together and the other tears them apart. 2 extremes on the opposite ends of the spectrum. 


Lets just say I have experienced that first hand out here the last couple weeks. We have had people tell us they wish we were dead and others that tell us to F off and others say that God isn't real. Then we have had other people be totally down to hear the gospel and we have amazing conversations with them. It is so mind boggling about how this works.


 2 Nephi Chapter 2 verse 11 says, "11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility."


I have no Idea why this is my main focus of this email is. I just feel like that I have learned so much and have grown my testimony so much through these experiences. I love President Nelsons warning where we will not be able to survive in the latter days without our testimony. I have experienced that firsthand out here in Oregon. There are not very many people who are down to hear the gospel. But there are also a ton of successes. This Sunday we had 5 people we have invited to church show up. This is insane! And I am fairly certain that they loved it! I Invite you all to look at your own testimony and to nourish it. Take the time to study every day. It is so worth it. Elder Holmes and I have been having fire personal studies and companionship studies. Him and I are studying the bible like nuts and I feel like we learn from eachother every single day. The words of God will tell you all things that you should do. 


I know this is a strange email. Your probably questioning if I am alright and what funny things happened to me this week. Well I did have a a couple special experiences where Elder Holmes and I bashed with a guy who says there is "Biblical Evidence" about how the world is flat. Which lead to an awesome personal study where I connected a prophesy Isaiah makes to what happened in the Book of Mormon. It was really neat! Hello everyone! No I did not forget to write my email this week. It was really weird last night and this morning and so I decided it was fine to write it tonight. I hope everyone is doing well! This week was full of ups and downs so lets get right into it.  Nostalgia On Tuesday I had the opportunity to go on an exchange with my old companion Elder Holmes. He was one of my favorites so I was very excited to see him and work with him for the day! We decided to make some chicken wings for nostalgic purposes. When we were together over a year ago the ward was not the best at feeding us. So we would make these chicken wings that had a delicious sauce that we had. It was a combination of Parmeson Garlic Buffalo Wild Wings and chic-fil-a sauce! Dont knock it till you try it. Though you dont need to look at the nutrition label when you are eating them. Birthday!

Hello people of the email list! Welcome to this weeks email! This week was kind of slow except for the last couple days so I guess lets get into it.  John's situation: Well we learned that my good friend and only progressing person that we are teaching had his hours changed. So that means he cannot really do our 3 meetings a week and it might be back to 1. We are hoping that he will want to meet with us at his own home. I guess this is the ultimate test of faith. Does he really want to keep progressing or does he want to just drop it right there? I guess we will find out! District council: This week in district council we talked a ton about Covenants and how important they are. President Nelson talks about how once you make a covenant with our Heavenly Father it is like a chain. He will never give up on you. Even if someone might not be living the covenants fully he will still be willing to help you get back on track and hold on to the iron rod. I absolutely love talking about cove...

Hanging Out With An Instagram Star!

Hello Hello my friends and my family! I hope you are all doing well! Thank you all for the birthday wishes! Especially the Gilbertsons for driving all the way from Merlin to come hangout with me! I love you guys! I appreciate the support! Now I cant blame all my problems on my troubled teenage years! But dont worry, I know guys that never seem to grow out of being a teenager! ;) *Cough* my dad *Cough.  Anyways, This week has been really interesting! Ever since ive been put into the area I feel like I have been struggling. I went from Merlin to here. Where we were teaching a ton of people to nobody. So this week I decided to put my head down and just get as much done as possible.  Last week at interviews I was talking to president and he told me he has been wanting to change our area as well as the area next to ours to a bike share area.
