MEGACITY
Holy crap guys. An absolute ton has happened since last email. Some of you know this, some of you dont, but I got transfered over to the Central point area. But my ward is in Medford. I know it is confusing to me too. So all day I got to pack and pack and pack some more. I felt like I had plenty of room but nope I did not. It was kind of a disaster but I guess what is done is done. On the way to Central point we got to drive through the snow like the whole way there. It was a 3 hour drive and it ended up being a 5 hour drive so I am fortunate I am able to drive in the snow between my many times going up in the mountain. Elder Green and Walker got into a wreck on the way up. Yes they are ok but it is because Elder Walker is from Southern Cali where it never snows and Elder Green is from Mississippi and so he couldnt do any better.
Now a little bit about Central Point/Medford/whereever the heck I am. It is about the same size as St. George but bigger because it is like 2 different cities combined into one MEGACITY. So I am pretty much serving in the megacity. So that is what it is like. Totally a different environment from LakeView. Lakeview is totally like a cowboy rural town where everyone knows everyone and everyone had farm land. Here I am living in an apartment house that has like 10 different apartments and there are homeless people everywhere. I have a story to tell you guys about a homeless guy later.
Elder Thomas Larsen is the name of my new companion. The coolest thing is he lived over in St George before the mission. He went to Dixie High school. My high school and his would play a lot of different sports games against eachother. How cool is that!? So when someone asks us where we lived at it is kind of fun to know where places I have been to and stuff. He is a big city kid and I think that is ok. I feel like that we get along great. His last companion, now Chevy's companion, I guess never helped clean, didnt know how to cook, always had a maid around his house and stuff. So he is very grateful to have someone that is self relient for himself.
Well now for the fun stories. The first day was a complete shock. In Lakeview we were alloted 6 and a half hours of service a day. Here we were given 2. We had like 5 different lessons in that first day. I met this guy named Wes who is a big republican hunter dude and I absolutely loved him. He was telling me about psycology stuff and how he was watching everything I did with my hands and such. Lowkey made me self concious about myself a bit. He also said "If you fold your arms your not going to listen to anything the other person says" Then he proceeded to fold his arms. I am going to call him out for it because I was listening and he was folding his arms.
Now a homeless guy story. We walk out of the Library because that is where we have computers to do facebook and stuff on. Now it was raining and like everyone and their dog. Maybe not the dog part but legit everyone was at the library to get out of the rain. So there was like homeless people everywhere in this library. We walk out and this guy is like are you the Mormons?! So of course we was like yes but we dont go by that name anymore. Then he proceeded to tell us that he is Gabriel from the Old Testament and how we needed to study Isaiah 54. He was a wack guy. His name is Marty or "Mary with a cross." He then proceeded to try to bash us with his beliefs as he is legit rolling a cigarette in front of us.
Later we went public finding and we went into this like Retro Nerdy store and I felt so so out of place and Elder Larsen talked to this guy about Pokemon and I tried super hard to understand what they were talking about but I just remained silent. I am sure they would not have appreciated my input by saying that one looks like a frog. Which yes I did get a weird look from that. You dont need to ask. But we gave this guy a Book of Mormon. Hope he is inspired to read it.
We ate a birthday cake with this guy named Jon as well. He is such a cool guy and he needed the company and It gave us the opportunity to share with him a little bit about what we believe. So fun to celebrate his birthday!
Saturday we had the opportunity to go visit this guy named John (No a different John) (We actually had like 3 different Johns we talked to this week) He is this older guy that was babtised like forever and a day ago and he has no idea what the church is about and such. So we love going and meeting with him and discussing gospel principles with him. He gave us a whole tour of his house. He is kind of an Antique collector and so it is like way ridiculous how much junk he has that he just keeps. But he was showing us his knives and his guns and it was so cool. He also had about 100 leather jackets and it made me want to get my own bomber jacket. He also invited us to thanksgibing which was kind of sick.
Anyways, so far it has been a huge change from little ol Lakeview but I am sure I will absolutely love the change. At least I can eat out if I want to sometime. The only place in Lakeview was a couple of sit down local ran places and subway. There is everything here. There is definitely ups and downs and I can tell that it is a new beginning in a way. Very excited for chapter 2 of my missionary experience.
I love you all and I hope you are all doing amazing. You guys are the reason I am who I am and it definitely is a blessing.
