Christmas Is Coming!!

Hello people of the email list! Hope you are all doing well! Hope you had an exciting week this week! I know I have. I feel like every week as a missionary has its good and bad parts. We are definitiely very busy so that is definitely a plus. 99% of the time we are doing some sort of service or contacting or having a lesson of some sort. It will definitely be crazy when I go home and just have to live a not missionary life. Crazy stuff.

This week was kinda crazy! Nothing terribly exciting happened sadly but I will still go through every day.

Tuesday we taught the seminary lesson at 645 in the morning. Which I believe went pretty good. Maybe needed a little more to it because we kind of just winged it. But that is ok. I just hope the kids learned stuff. We then went over to Jack's house and helped him haul logs around and he fed us a delicious lunch. I had in my mind before we went over there that we should probably figure out a way to tell him we cant come help him as much because of the progression thingy. But as we went and helped him out I couldnt bring myself to do it. He treats us too well and I just could not bring myself to do it. We also had come follow me with the elderly members of the ward which went well!

Wednesday we taught seminary again and it definitely went way better than last time. We actually studied and made sure to follow the lesson plan. I think it went way better. At least in my eyes. We then went over to Mrs Phyllis's house where I decided I should share a little article talking about her issue with the church and I really hope it kind of allowed her to have a bit of a change of heart. Idk if it did but we can hope. After that we went and helped Adrianna put some flooring in her trailer and it definitely looks at least a little bit better. Another great thing is she qualified for a house!! I was so flippin excited for her! Her junky trailer will not be an issue anymore. At least I hope.

Thursday we had one main thing. We got to go help this lady winterize her car wash so she can use it when it gets cold. So we got to go up on some scaffolding and put what looked like cut up pool noodles around hoses on the ceiling. Idk if it was against the rules but I do not really care. I think the rules say you can go as high as your comfortable and I was comfortable so I am saying it as a win.

Friday was when it started getting pretty exciting. We got to drive the long fun 2 hours to Klamath Falls for district council at 730 am. District council is always one of my favorite times because I get to see a bunch of the elders I never get to see. I am very excited to go every week. We also got to go on exchanges again. So Elder Mumford got to come down to Lakeview for the day with me. He is from Idaho and worked on a dairy farm while growing up so he knows how to work hard. Unlike some of the elders I know. Sadly. But he knows how to work hard and just get down and dirty to get a job done which is just like my style. He is the kind of kid that will take charge if nothing is getting done like I would. Him and I got along a lot better than Rommy and I did. Just similiar views on life in a way. You have to work hard to get anywehre in life. Thats what I have found anyway.

We were supposed to help this lady named Candy move. She asked us to try to get some moving boxes for her so we got some and we go over there and she straight up tells us yea I do not know how you guys can help me right now but thanks for the boxes. So we left. We went and helped the Halibiebs split wood for the winter and that was super fun. I love splitting wood. Just relaxing exersize. We split a lot of wood here in Lakeview. It gets pretty darn cold here in the winter.

Speaking of, i heard of how it is like a high of 50 in Hurricane this weekend. Lets just say it has had a high of 50 for the last month. This weekend however the forecast said the high was 40. And yes there was snow on the ground in the morning. Not like it stayed that way but there was snow. Chevy was making a joke saying the youth in our ward pranked us by spreading shaving cream on our car. It was kind of funny.

Saturday we went over to this guy named Terry's house and helped him clean up his yard. He had a super cool truck that I kind of want. It is like a 90s Chevy that rode on big ol wheels and was loud. Plus it was stick shift. I loved that truck. I am kicking myself that I didnt take a picture of it. He also gave us a weight set that was in his backyard so now we have a bench and some weights to go with it. Kind of cool. He also had this creepy racoon that he stuffed that was sitting outside and it looked kind of demented. I have a picture of elder Mumford holding it so I will make sure to have it in this email.

Anyways that was this week. I hope yours was as eventful as mine and I hope that you enjoyed it. My spiritual thought was actually on a lesson we gave the Johnson family when we went over to their house. The scripture we shared with them was Alma 5:19 which states:
19 I say unto you, can ye look up to God at that day with a pure heart and clean hands? I say unto you, can you look up, having the image of God engraven upon your countenances?
We then went and looked at the footnote for this verse. Which directed us to 1 John 3:1-3:
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
We then asked the question, "How does knowing you are a son or daughter of God change your outlook on life?"

So for my question this week I am going to ask that same question. How does knowing you are a son or daughter of God change your outlook on life?

I challenge you all to figure out a way to remind yourself that you are a son or daughter of God each and every day. One thing I have heard is put a little note to yourself on your mirror in the bathroom that you read to yourself aloud every morning.

I love you all and pray for you all everyday. I promise as you look at life with that different perspective it will change your life. I promise as you look at others the way God would your perspective will change. You guys are all awesome. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen
