Not As Liberal As I Thought... Yet

Greetings people from the email list! This week has been a very eventful week! I made it to the field which was quite an adventure! We had to wake up at 130 in the morning on Wednesday to meet our flight to Oakland Cali and then we had a delay for a couple hours and then flew into Eugene.
We were met by a ton of missionaries and my mission president Elder and Sister Weekes. There were 19 of us on the flight and it was amazing! I was so tired on the flight because of the early, early, early morning. Then like 8 hours of riding on a bus. Lets just say it was such a long day of just nothing but it was exhausting. We stayed at Elder Sherwood and Elder Jensen's apartment in Klamath the first night. I learned that in my area we get to do lots of staying at other people's apartments because it is so far out of the way. Like next week we get to go up Thursday night and go to district council on Friday. Then we drive back up Sunday night and go to an activity on Monday for Pday!
Thursday I was introduced to Mrs Phillis. I loved doing service for her! We got to put a fence in the ground and put a trailer lift thing on a trailer. We also went and worked with the Mayor watering flowers and we also taught one lesson with a newly baptized member.
We have been fed almost every night which is amazing! We have been taken to dinner at a Mexican place with Brother Dickerson, Pizza with Mrs Phillis, and Haystacks with Bob and Diane Elder. I loved eating with them so much!
Service is definitely the most of what we do here in the area! It is definitely more my style!

Now for the fun stuff,
the District council was a blast because we got to hangout with the other missionaries that I haven't ever met. I also love my companion! His name is Koby Hansen and he actually is a Beaver trapper from Colorado! He is super fun and has an awesome sense of humor! He has been out for 7 months and has only been in LakeView so that is kinda cool. He knows the area better than anybody! He mentioned that right before I got out there the mission car in our area is a Nissan Frontier and I am kinda jealous because we drive a hybrid. I mean it is nice, but I love trucks. At least I can't drive till the next transfer.
One of the missionaries we hang out with today believes that birds are government drones and that they spy on the people! We might have made fun of him for like 2 hours.
The Toybota: There is a truck boat hybrid thing that someone built down the street from me and I think it is the coolest thing.
Bubba Allen: This guy took us to lunch today and he is one of the funniest guys ever. He always gives nicknames for all the missionaries. So he was trying to figure out a nickname for me and Elder Green. I'll have to let you guys know what nickname he will give me.
I picked up the piano again! I have been playing Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean on Elder Hansen's piano. I need to maybe have my mom send out my guitar and stuff so I can play stuff throughout the mission. We also get to play games in the evenings like Monopoly, Chess and Card games.
Lastly, There are actual trucks in this area! I thought it would be all little cars and not anything cool. But there are a ton of cool trucks around here! There is one nicknamed the Hulk in the name of Alturas that is one of the coolest trucks ever! It probably is in 37s and it is probably an early 70s model. It is super sick! I wish we didn't have to drive the Rav that we drive right now. I want to drive the truck.

Questions: Since I have been doing all sorts of service I have been thinking a lot about the service aspect of our lives. Mosiah 2:17 says, "17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
Pretty much, serving people will allow us to become closer to Heavenly Father.
How have you done service to people around you?
What are some services you can provide that people would appreciate?
How do you think this will help you come closer to God?

I love each and every one of you and look forward to your responses to the questions! You guys are the very best! I look forward to hearing from you guys! Thank you!
