At Home MTC
I am just going to keep this a little bit brief because at home MTC can be super exciting. I was introduced to my absolutely amazing district of 16 different kids from all over. Mostly from salt lake. They have been very good at bringing me closer to heavenly father and Jesus Christ through their amazing examples and testimonies that they have been sharing over the past week.
My companion's name is Elder Graf and he is one of the funniest, most outgoing people I have ever met. I am very much bummed that he and I might not be companions in the mission field. Even though he and I have not always been the most on task people ever, I feel like just having him as a buddy I can go and talk to about everything that also has a common purpose has just been very impactful to me. Him and I one of the days were supposed to be working on a powerpoint for class the next day and ended up just talking and messing around with the various filters and backgrounds on facebook messenger. Having him as a buddy has definitely been amazing to me because without him I don't think it would be as easy to get up on time in the morning and to go onto our classes.
I have had my ups and downs throughout the week, to start it is absolutely insane the spirit that is felt every single class. I feel like I am learning an absolute ton about how to become a better disciple of Jesus Christ. At home MTC has also definitely been a little bit of a struggle for me. I am not used to being on a screen for upwards of 9 hours a day. Between having two different 3 hour classes as well as having companion study and our own personal study, 9 hours a day seems like a lot.
One of the most impactful things I have learned so far while in the MTC is that God always provides a way out when you fail. For example, during the creation of the earth, the lord knew that Adam and Eve would partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He knew that they would FAIL to listen to the words he shared with them. He provided a way for them to still be able to come back and live with him again. Another example is with the restoration of the church and Joseph Smith. Joseph really desired to share the first 116 pages that he and Martin Harris have been translating. So after begging with the lord the lord finally told him he can do as he wishes. Joseph ended up losing the 116 pages and lost his ability to translate for a while. God knew he was going to be very stubborn and end up sharing the pages with Martin Harris. He knew he was going to Fail. The lord inspired Nephi to share experiences from his father Lehi's words.
The lord knows I am going to fail to some degree on my mission. He knows that there are some things that are very hard and I might fall short. But he has provided a way for me to bounce back and get something out of it. To learn from those mistakes and to press on.
I appreciate all of you guys for your support in this new stage of life. I look forward to learning more while in the MTC and to become closer to christ.
